Brockwell Lido, London
28 September 2008

Platun worked with the public to create an installation at the lido called ‘message in a bottle – a best stolen image’. It featured lido visitor’s own words, drawings, paintings and images about the pool, encapsulated individually in over one thousand sealed bottles. On the last day of the season, the bottles were set adrift in the pool creating a floating visual narrative of life at the lido from the past to the present. At dusk, on an autumnal evening, the messages inside the bottles were replaced with 1000 blue lights to symbolize the pool being closed for another year.

The messages went on to be exhibited and stored at Lambeth archives.
